Collaborative psychological care that bridges recovery and wellbeing

At Wellspring Counselling, we work closely with medical practitioners to support patients along the full continuum of care — from distress and instability toward coherence, meaning, and wellbeing. Our therapists, Will and Danielle, offer complementary approaches that together serve a wide range of patient needs:

We work primarily from a salutogenic framework, helping patients move beyond symptom reduction toward recovery, integration, and healthy growth. Our work focuses on trauma, identity, and emotional regulation — guiding patients from survival toward genuine vitality and coherence. We can also provides a more pathogenic-focused approach for young people and young adults who are seeking stability and meaning amidst anxiety, mood changes, or adjustment difficulties. We aim to establish safety, structure, and emotional grounding as the foundation for wellbeing.

A Salutogenic Lens in Mental Health

Traditional psychological models focus on identifying and managing illness — what causes breakdown. While we recognise the importance of this at the beginning phases of treatment, we also explore what creates health. Our work supports patients in cultivating coherence — the felt sense that life is understandable, manageable, and meaningful.

We help patients strengthen:

  • Emotional regulation and stress tolerance
  • Relational safety and connection
  • Agency, purpose, and direction
  • Sustainable coping and self-care capacities

These elements not only improve mental health outcomes but often enhance medical treatment adherence, recovery rates, and overall quality of life.

When to Refer

Patients who benefit most from collaborative psychological care include those experiencing:

  • Chronic stress, burnout, or emotional exhaustion
  • Trauma-related symptoms or adjustment difficulties
  • Mood or anxiety conditions impacting daily functioning
  • Psychosomatic symptoms or stress-related health patterns
  • Difficulty maintaining progress following medical treatment

We aim to complement your clinical care by addressing the psychological and relational dynamics that often underlie persistent distress or health resistance.

Our shared goal: to help your patients not only stabilise, but thrive — building the capacities that sustain long-term wellbeing.
