Hello and welcome!
My name is Will, founder of Wellspring Counselling. I discovered a passion for working one-on-one with my clients while I was a social worker. Wellspring was started to deepen and continue my work in this area.
Everyone’s mental health journey is different and therapies need to be tailored to suit the individual. As such, I have immersed myself in a range of therapeutic practices to offer a holistic and diverse approach. Further training has enabled me to be qualified as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. This also means I can provide therapy services with a Medicare rebate, so that cost (which often can be a hurdle) is radically reduced.
I was raised by refugee Chinese-Vietnamese parents who had their fair share of poverty, trauma and tragedies. Luckily, in 1979, they migrated to Australia and started their new lives. I was born in Adelaide, South Australia, and had a comfortable start to life. However, as I grew, issues began to emerge from some unseen, potent source.
I felt deeply divided within as I attempted to navigate a dual Asian Australian identity. Intergenerational trauma, which was passed down from my parents began to affect every aspect of my life. The emotional wounds born from everyday interpersonal challenges seemed relentless.
The road to self-understanding and healing is not a clearly defined path. I journeyed into my pain and came out relatively unscathed and with stories to tell. My experience of suffering gave me the drive to map out the mysterious ‘terrain of pain’, so that I might help others find their way through.
If you are ready to take the next step on your healing journey – to explore the depths within and discover your own wellspring of hope, freedom, and strength – then I am here to support and guide you on this sacred path.
